Chelsea FC-Gonzalo Higuain deal to be blocked by Jose Mourinho - report
Crunch Sports Staff - 17 Dec 2011

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho will reportedly prevent Chelsea from signing striker Gonzalo Higuain next month.

Reports in recent days have suggested that Chelsea are preparing to make a £30million bid for Higuain, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the year.

The Blues' interest in the Argentina international is believed to have increased in recent weeks as manager Andre Villas-Boas considers bringing in a new striker in the New Year.

Reports in Spain earlier this month had suggested Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was prepared to let Higuain leave the Bernabeu providing Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich can match his valuation of the Argentine - believed to be £40m.

But according to the Daily Star, any bid from Chelsea for the 24-year-old will be blocked by Mourinho.

The Special One, who was once close to AVB during spells working together in the past, has reportedly instructed agent Jorge Mendes not to deal with the Chelsea boss and has threatened to sign with another representative if he does.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager is said to be unhappy at the way Villas-Boas copied him by taking over at Porto and then Chelsea.

Villas-Boas is keen to strengthen his attacking options as he is set to lose Nicolas Anelka next month, while reports earlier this week suggested the Blues are ready to offload £50m flop Fernando Torres when the transfer window reopens on January 1st.

There is also still a chance that Didier Drogba could follow Anelka out of the club next year, while Salomon Kalou's future is also yet to be resolved.
